Target Practice Anyone

Well I will have to say that Landon got it honest when it comes to the love for hunting!  Target practice around my house is pretty normal on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  If it was up to Landon it would be an everyday afternoon ritual!  He is dead set on killing a squirrel and he knows he has a lot of practicing to do before that happens.  Here are a few pictures of Landon and Bobby's target practice a few weeks ago in our front yard.
Landon all decked out in his camo
Daddy making sure the gun is sighted in right while Landon takes a few notes from his dad in the background.
Who said you can't make your own target?  Never let a pumpkin go to waste in our motto!  The object here is to knock the green block off of the pumpkin!
Landon concentrating with all of his might on that little green block!

Lets go see if I hit it Dad!!

Mommy comes to school!!

About a month ago "Cellby" and myself took a trip to Landon's class to talk about what I do and share some safty cell phone tips.  Landon's class was much more interested in who was in the Cellby suit rather than what I had to say but needless to say we had a great time.  Here is Landon's class posing with Cellby
We gave away US Cellular goody bags filled with all kinds of neat things.  Here is Xienne and Landon showing off their bags

Each kid had a chance to practice dialing 911 on the Cellby suit before we left.  They all got a kick out of that!!
I had a great time with Landon's class!!!

What I wanna be when I grow up?

Landon's Kindergarten class had an Occupation day a couple of weeks ago.  Instead of wearing their uniforms to school they got to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up!  Well 'Im excited to tell you guys that Landon is going to be a NFL football player in about 20 years!  (hopefully if he plays for the Panthers they will be A LOT better by that time lol)  Landon has really been into football lately. He does all the plays in front of the TV and hoops and hollers when either team does a great tackle or makes a touch down.   He comes home and watches football games and ESPN instead of cartoons these days.  I guess that is what little boys do when they grow up.  Here are a couple of pictures of Landon and his classmates in their outfits.
He is going to be a heart breaker one day!!!!!!!
 Ready, Set, Hike.......
Landon with his Panthers Jersey ready to go to school
Here we have our future doctor, fireman, business man, NFL football player, beautician, dancer, and chef!!
During occupation week Marque's mom came to talk about what she does as a hair stylist.  While she was there the kids talked her into doing up their hair before she left.  All of the boys wanted a spike!

Coupon Addiction!!!!

So guys I have a confession.  I am addicted to coupons and finding deals!!  Ever since Elizabeth introduced me to southernsavers.com I haven't been able to turn back.  (It's all your fault Elizabeth lol!)To be quite honest I really enjoy trying to find deals and sharing them with everyone.  The only thing that I hate is that it takes up all of what "use to be" my blogging time.  Sometimes I have to weigh out what is necessary and what is not. Saving money right now is necessary :)  I'll learn how to balance them both when I become the coupon queen!!  So enough of that and on to my AWESOME deals for the day at Rite Aid and CVS.  I am so excited about all of this that I felt that it was blog worthy.  My first stop was Rite Aid.  I will be honest, this does take some patients and time to figure out but when you do it is so rewarding.  I spent at least two hours last night trying to put together a plan of action before I went in for the kill!!  Now for the good part.....what did I get and how much did I spend?  I know that picture is hard to see so I am going to list it all out.
7 packs of Huggies diapers
1 pack of bounty paper towels (8 rolls)
1 large bottle of Clorox clean up
1 box of Clorox wipes
1 bottle of Pinesol
1 bottle of Liquid Plumr
2 ThermaCare Heat packs for you back
1 Advil 100 count
1 Advil congestion (10 count)
1 Dimetapp
2 colgate  360 toothbrushes
1 Colgate toothpaste
2 bottles of Herbal Essence shampoo
2 boxes of Betty crocker mashed potatoes (each had 2 packs)
3 boxes of cereal (Cinnamon toast crunch, Fiber One, lucky Charms
1 box of Nature Valley Bars
2 bags of holiday Hershey kisses
1 bag of Hershey Bliss

All of this for 42.01 out of my pocket!!!!
I added it all up separately and it came to 147.50 before taxes!

I know you are wondering how in the world did I pull that off?  I don't think I can go through every transaction but I will give some helpful hints.  On Rite Aid's website you can sign up to get coupons.  All you have to do is watch a short 30 second-1 minute video on whatever product you want to get a coupon for.  This coupon can be used in addition to a manufacturers coupon.  So really you can use two coupons for some of your items.  Also when you reach 20 points (basically watch 20 videos) you will get a coupon for $4 off of $20.  That always helps as well.  Southernsavers.com is also a big help.  She basically does all the work for you and tells you where to find the coupon that you need.  So on to my second deal at CVS.  This one is smaller so I can be more specific here.
This week CVS had their Oral-B electronic toothbrushes on special for $23 and you get $13 back in Care bucks.  Well Conveniently there was a $10 coupon in last Sundays paper that made this offer free!  The Fiber One bars were on special for 3.99 and you get $ 3 back and the Froot Loops were 2 for $4 with $1 Care Bucks Back.  So this is what my receipt looked like
Froot Loop $2
Froot Loop $2
OB Toothbrush $23
Fiber One $3.89
-$10 from manu coupon
-$5 (CVS sent to me in email $5 off of $30 purchase)
-1.50 (kellogs coupon)
total 16.06 and I got back $17 in Care Bucks ($13 tootbrush, $1 Cereal, $3 fiber one)
I made money to shop at CVS!!!! yeah

here are some other websites that I look at for coupons
coupons.com
upromise.com
southernsavers.com

Field Trip to Mike's Farm

Today I went with Landon and his classmates to their first field trip at Mike's Farm in Beaulaville.  Boy did the kids have fun!  I have heard so many cool things about Mike's Farm and it was nice to experience firsthand exactly what I have heard.  For those of you that have never visited I'll give you a short version of our day.  First the kids stopped by the old lady's house where she teaches the kids how clothes were washed and hung to dry and how floors were swept and mopped back when they didn't have all the technology that we do today.  Next they went on a haunted hayride where they were able to pick their own pumpkin to take home and ride by the Christmas trees that are growing just in time for the Holiday season.  When they got back we headed over to the barn where a man shared with the kids how apple cider was made and the kids were able to taste some fresh apple cider.  Still going..........next we headed to Cowboy Earl's stage where we sang and had fun.  The kids were able to get on stage and do a little dancing!  Landon's entire class ran on up on stage.  They were so cute.  Of course cowboy Earl wanted some adults next to demonstrate how you play your face.  Somehow I ended up on the stage with Mrs. Rowlett and Mrs. Biggs!!  (check out earljonesmusicschool.com, scroll down to the youtube videos at the bottom and you will see a demonstration of how you play your face!!!)  After singing and taking pictures with Cowboy Earl we checked out the animals on the way back to the picnic tables for lunch.  By this time I think the kids were pooped and ready for lunch and a swallow to drink.  We all had a great time and I would recommend you take a visit!!

Here are the 3 Landon's with their pumpkin picks.  They were the last off of the hay ride and the first to pick their pumpkins!
Marky finally picked her pumpkin and is proudly holding it high!

"The Duck Zoo"

This summer Steve, Landon, and myself decided to take a road trip to Scotland Neck to visit Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park, better known as "The Duck Zoo".  I had never visited it before so I thought I would tag along with the two peas in a pod Landon and Steve. I will have to say that I was really impressed!  The park has over 1500 different ducks, geese, swans, and other exotic birds from around the world.  As you walk through you can learn interesting facts about each bird and where they live.  Many rare and local ducks are also bred at this park.  When we first walked in they had a display of different size bird eggs.  We had a chance to see the tail end of a baby duckling being born which was really cool! We walked through the entire park and I don't think that we missed a single bird.  Here are a few pictures of Landon and Steve and some rare birds.

 Duck enjoying a morning swim
OK I didn't get the names of all of these birds.  I just like his stripes & color!
There is a little story behind this turkey.  The turkey on the outside of the cage is actually a wild turkey that is love with one of the turkeys in side the cage.  That turkey just circled that cage like a mad man! Steve and Landon tried to get beside him but he was a little too fast!

 This one was very interesting!!

From Kiddie to Kindergarten

Where time has gone I have no Idea?  I can't believe that Landon has started kindergarten this year.  I feel like overnight he has become a little man!!  If you remember at the beginning of the year I wrote a post about wanting Landon to attend a christian based school.  I researched several schools and decided on Open Door in Winterville.  Boy am I glad that we decided to go there because Landon absolutely loves every minute of it!!  He loves his teachers and new friends. Believe it or not there are 3 Landon's out of a class of 12 and the other two Landon's are his best friends!!  He also loves learning!  Each week he learns a new bible verse.  It has been great practice for myself as well to learn these simple verses that I can use in my everyday walk with the Lord!  He has 5 new site words each week and every Friday he brings home a folder full of things that he has learned over the past week.  I love going through that folder in amazement at his progress each week.  Just this past week they have started homework and boy does homework teach you patients!!  We made it through week one OK so hopefully we can stay on track for the remainder of the year.  Landon has a lot to learn so hopefully I will be sharing those things as we go!!

This is Landon and Mrs. Rowlett on his first day.  Mrs. Rowlett made Landon feel comfortable and he walked right on in without being shy!
Landon's colors are Purple, Red, White, and Navy.  They have to wear a collar shirt with either khaki or navy pants.  Friday is free day and they get to wear whatever they would like!!
Lexi comes to Open Door for their after school program.  I am so excited that Landon and Lexi get to spend some time together.  They have a blast with each other.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses!!!!

Well if I have anybody left reading my blog because of my neglect to keep you posted on the our lives I will be surprised!!  I know it has been mighty boring clicking on my blog for an entire month with no updates.  Yes I am ashamed!!  I am so behind on updating you guys with what is going on in our lives that I don't even know where to start.  So what have we been doing over the past month??  Well Landon has started school so that means going to bed a little earlier and getting up a little earlier as well. Luke has turned 6 months and requires a little more attention these days.  He is eating cereal, holding his bottle, and trying to sit up on his own.  Bobby has been busy as well.  He and three other guys have started a TV show on the local Greenville channel called East Carolina Outdoors.  This show is a combination of hunting and fishing as well as some preaching.  Bobby also preached an awesome sermon at Potters Wheel last weekend on Fear.  Ohh I can't forget hunting season has started in the Denton house so I will see Bobby in January lol!!!  Last but not least what have I been doing besides working, being a mom, and cleaning my house?  Well me and my sisters are trying to start a photography business so we have been taking a few photo shoots of some really cute kids!!  I have also been a little addicted to blogs that show you how to save money (not time) and I spend my little bit of computer time looking for a deal!!!  It is very time consuming but most of the time worth it!  On a sadder note I lost my Uncle Guy to cancer and Bobby lost his Grandma Josie due to old age and heart failure.  My dad had a heart attack on the same day that Grandma Josie passed away.  Although a heart attack is not good, some really positive things came out of the mix (ill share in a later post).

Well I have made some excuses as to why I have not updated my blog but I have the proof that I was really busy over the last few months.  The good thing is that I haven't put my camera down yet so I have pictures to come on all the things that I said that we have been doing!!  Hopefully you will see me back in full force sometime really soon:) Stay tuned...........

4 Months, 5 Months

8/10/2010 Luke Allen was 5 months old. I missed his 4 month post so I will have to catch you up on all the excitement around here!!  Before starting this post I had to revisit his 3 month post to remember back only 2 months ago.  The first thing I noticed is how much less hair Luke has.  My goodness he has definitly lost it all!!  He still has a think layer in the back at the very bottom and one piece on the top of his head.  Other than that it is gone! So here are some other exciting things going on with Luke Allen!
*He just started eating cereal mixed with fruit and vegetables
*He is sitting up with support
*He can roll over from belly to back and back over
*His 4 1/2 month check up he weighed 12.12 lbs (10th percentile)
*He smiles at just about everything that you do :)
*He is still the best baby ever!  Very laid back, attentive, and just plain sweet.
*He loves his watching his brother do anything.  Landon loves him too!
*He just now starting to drool right much.  He might be getting a tooth in there somewhere.  Dont feel one yet.
*His eyes are brown.  A little lighter than Landon's are.
*Everyone says that he looks like his daddy more now.  I thought he looked like him the entire time!
*Luke can pick up anything out of my hand by himself.  Most of the time it goes straight to his mouth!
*He drinks about 7 ounces at each bottle feeding.
*sleeps through the entire night most of the time.  Yeah!!!
*Luke loves to talk back to you with his shrilly voice (check out the video below)
*Last, I think he is the cutest baby on earth:)

Here are some pictures taken of him over the past 2 months.  He is getting use to the camera because it is always in his face:)

My Baby is 5!!!

Wow! I can't believe that I am actually taking the time to sit down and write another blog.  It seems like a very rare thing for me these days! Last month was so busy.  We had vacation for a week (next blog) at the river with my parents, sisters and their families, and my family from Burlington.  Also Landon's birthday party (this blog), Addison Leigh was born (yippee), and I had to traveled to Chicago for some very exciting work stuff for two days.  I am about pooped!  For Landon's 5th birthday party we used some resources that we already had and headed down to the river.  Once again it was a last minute thing but it turned out to be a really fun and relaxing party.  The kids brought their swim suits and they all had a great day playing in the water.  We had baby pools for the little ones and the big kids either were taking a dip in the river or  sliding down the water slide that we had blew up in the back yard.  We cooked hot dogs, baked beans, and ate cake and ice cream.  Sounds like your traditional birthday party!  Hopefully I will be able to add a few more pictures later.  Half of them are on either Casey's or Michelle's camera.

This is actually the night of Landon's birthday.  We made cake batter cookies with icing.  They were delicious! Thanks Lindsey for getting me addicted to another dessert!

Isn't that the cutest face that you have ever seen?  Too cute, Too sweet!

Wow, I got them all together at one time.  I cant believe it! Landon was in heaven with all of his friends
